Camp Broadway taught me how to enjoy working with a professional staff, choreographing, rehearsing and performing with various other talented singers and dancers (all of this in front of a large audience). It was a wonderful and challenging experience. It was my foundation for where I am today. This fall,I will be attending the University of Michigan as a dance major in the competitive department of Music, Theater and Dance. I was chosen as one of 16 dancers throughout the country and abroad. I am excited and honored to be part of this select group. This is a picture of me winning the gold medal in the Pre-Professional Division at the Long Island Ballet Competition, October 2010.

I participated with Camp Broadway in 2007 for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Camp Broadway was an incredible experience that not only allowed me to grow as an actress, but also gave me the opportunity to perform in front of thousands. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I made wonderful friends that I still keep in touch with through Camp Broadway, and I met some wonderful people in the business who taught me one of life’s most important lessons; ‘Follow your dreams!’ Today, I am studying Musical Theater at Marymount Manhattan College where I am pursuing my career as an actress on Broadway.

Camp Broadway was more than just a workshop – it gave me a real idea at an early age of what it would be like and what would be expected of me if I were to choose theatre as a career. It helped instill in me the discipline, drive and hard-work ethic that I have today – but it was a lot of fun too! I am now a professional actress in NYC! I have a BFA in acting and I’ve worked in television, Off-Broadway and with professional theatre companies all over the country.

My daughter Karin participated in spring 2005 through winning an essay contest. She was in 8th grade during the time and came from California to NYC to participate in Camp Broadway. What a wonderful experience. The teachers and the staff were wonderful. We also watched when a few of her friends participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. My daughter today is still pursuing her dream. She is a junior as a Theater Performance Major. The trip to Camp Broadway was definitely a highlight in her life. Performing on the stage at the Imperial Theatre–priceless! Congrats on 16 years. Cheers, here’s to many more.
