Seeking Production Assistants for Camp Broadway Pops
Camp Broadway, Broadway’s Original Summer Camp for theater-loving kids, is seeking production assistants (support staff) for its new program titled Camp Broadway Pops. This new program, developed in cooperation with The New York Pops, introduces kids ages 10 – 17 to the world of composing music and lyrics for a Broadway show.
Camp Broadway Pops will be offered in New York City August 12 – 16, 2013. Additional planning and training days may be scheduled in advance of these dates.
Camp Broadway seeks dynamic, creative and high-energy staff members who enjoy working with children, ages 10-17. Successful candidates must play piano and / or guitar (vocals a plus); be able to read chord changes and improvise. This position titled Production Assistant will have tasks including: supporting lead creative staff, teaching artists and administration; assisting students with the composition process; wrangling groups of students in workshops and rehearsals; assist administrative staff managing campers from arrival to departure, monitoring meals and breaks, setting up and breaking down rehearsal rooms as needed. Production Assistant may be asked to perform as instrumentalists and possibly vocalists in the compositions presented in the studio recordings and camp showcase. Candidates should have exemplary leadership, musicianship and communication skills; experience leading group activities preferred. To apply, you must attend the auditions below. Auditions are an open-call format. Candidates will be asked to perform and preferably self-accompany 32 bars of a Broadway song chosen by the candidate; sight-read a short section of a provided song (chords and melody required, singing is a plus); and to create a 2-4 line segment of song lyrics via a provided template. Candidates will be notified if they will be invited to interview within one week following the audition. Bring a headshot and resume. Resume should include any experience teaching or working with youth. Audition dates are as follows:
