Camp Broadway Classic Camp
Ages 10-17 Two Groups: Younger, Older |
Camp Broadway offers master classes in singing, dancing and theater arts taught by Broadway-trained faculty. Perfect for kids who want an intensive musical theatre experience in a condensed time period, in the heart of New York City.
All of Camp Broadway's programs are taught by Broadway-trained faculty. Sessions run from 9:00-5:30 daily. Open to all skill levels, no prior experience is required.
We've added camp sessions throughout the year, not just in the summertime: our classic five-day camp experience will be offered during mid-winter and spring breaks in 2011. We've also created special 2 and 3-day camps which will be held on selected weekends.
All camps include:
- Classes in ensemble singing, dance and movement, voice and acting
- A ticket to an award-winning Broadway musical
- Meals, materials, merchandise
The more extended five-day camps also include:
- Lunch and a Q&A with professional actors/producers/designers
- Master classes and meet-and-greets with Broadway artists
- Behind-the-scenes insights from the crew of a Broadway production
- Showcase presentation for the entire family
Last Year's Broadway Guests:
Last year, our campers met many prominent Broadway professionals. They attended special master classes, led by Adam Perry (Promises, Promises), Jan Horvath (Phantom), Kristen Williams (Promises, Promises), Hunter Bell (bookwriter for [title of show]), Sarah O'Gleby (Promises, Promises), LaQuet Sharnell (Memphis), Cameron Adams (Promises, Promises), Morgan James (The Addams Family), Matt Loehr (Promises, Promises), and Carmel Dean (Musical Director for American Idiot).
The campers had Q&A sessions with Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Jen Cody (Shrek), and spent an hour posing questions to Broadway stars Trent Kowalik (The Lion King), Tracee Beazer (Memphis), Dashaun Young (The Lion King), Jen Sanchez (Memphis), Jen Foote (Rock of Ages), and Kyle Dean Massey (Next To Normal).
Also, campers had a Q&A session with four members of the technical team from The Addams Family, where they learned all about puppet building, props, costumes, scenic design and construction of the sets.
